PETALING JAYA: A total of RM1.9bil in sales is expected to be generated from the upcoming 18th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas), said Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) CEO Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz.(pic)
“Mihas will feature 1,196 booths in 13 leading clusters in a hybrid manner. All exhibitors will be offered virtual platforms to showcase their products on Mihas’s digital platform for three days including business meetings with potential buyers.
“The Islamic arts and culture is the latest and the 13th cluster in Mihas. We target small and medium enterprises involved in arts and craft with Islamic elements.
“We are collaborating with Malaysian Handicraft Development Corp to promote (local) Islamic arts and craft to foreign countries through this platform,” he said at Matrade yesterday after opening Mihas Reconnect, a special session to introduce the 18th edition of Mihas that will take place in Kuala Lumpur from Sept 7 to Sept 10 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre.
In a statement, Matrade noted the Mihas event this year would feature knowledge hub sessions that offered opportunities for Malaysian exporters to gain market insight and to engage with premium buyers.
“Apart from the exhibition, we will organise the International Sourcing Programmes for about 400 international buyers to have business meetings either virtually or physically with Malaysian exporters,” it said.
The Mihas Awards will be organised this year to acknowledge innovative and sustainable excellence showcased by local and foreign halal brands.
